Hamburg has one of the strongest concentrations of practices in Germany and a pronounced competition culture. Winning work here means being able to show how you think. Not only what you have built.

Urban development at scale, conversion in the tightest of settings
HafenCity is urban development on a scale rarely seen in Germany. Alongside it sits the daily work of most practices: conversion, extension and refurbishment in dense surroundings, often with neighbours, heritage protection and a running operation on the same plot.
Then there is water and port engineering, a discipline with requirements all of its own. Its results later lie underwater or behind fences nobody reaches. For clients that is the hardest work to assess. And the most rewarding to show.
What we produce for Hamburg practices
Concept, shoot, edit, grade and sound all happen in house. One point of contact, no chain.
Practice portrait
Shows attitude and working method. In a city with many good practices, that decides more often than the reference list.
Project documentation
From strip-out to handover. It shows what disappears behind façade and ceiling once the job is done.
Competition and presentation film
For procedures and client meetings. A film explains an idea faster than a stack of drawings.
Photography
From the same shooting day. For website, press and submissions, without a second date.
Let’s talk about your Hamburg project
Tell us what is coming up and who controls access. The rest we settle on the phone.
Let’s get goingMethod rather than postcode
We have not yet filmed in Hamburg, and we would rather say so than claim a reference that does not exist. What we can show is the matching method: existing buildings with awkward layouts, shoots on cramped sites.

What sets us apart
Cinema quality. Costed with a clear head.
Film industry standard meets a lean, vertically integrated production setup. That is what makes quality affordable. What others outsource at a premium has long been part of our team. It saves time, it saves money, and you can see it in the result.
Stories that stick.
Cinematic DNA in short formats. We condense messages down to what matters. Precise, emotionally charged and built on real narrative craft. Advertising that isn’t just watched, but felt.
From Gen Z. For every audience.
We speak today’s visual language – fluently and by conviction. From elaborate corporate films through lean video productions to high-energy content for social media, we know exactly what earns attention. Made by a young team that grew up with the “cloud”. Effective for every audience, every format, every platform.
QUALITY and SERVICE are written in capitals here.
No project is finished until both we and our clients are happy with it. That is why you will find no small print limiting the number of revisions. We are convinced that clear, transparent communication, a structured briefing and the shared ambition to create something lasting and convincing make clauses like that unnecessary.
Services at a glance
Our focus is outstanding audio-visual film, video and photo production for the construction, architecture and building services (MEP) sector. But we think beyond the camera. Through our established network of experts and partners we open up additional touchpoints for your company: from corporate websites and digital project presentations through trade fair appearances and print to targeted LinkedIn marketing for the construction industry. Together we work out which channels and formats reach your clients, investors and future specialists most effectively – and we bring the right specialists to the table to deliver the project to our quality standard.
Travel and lead time
Hanau to Hamburg is about five hours by road. We travel the evening before, which makes sense here anyway. The interesting windows are early: before deliveries, before rush hour, in the first light over the Elbe.
What matters, though, is not the drive but the lead time. Access to port and terminal areas, safety briefings and passes take weeks, not days. We put that on the list at the very start. We cannot get in faster than through your own channels.
Frequently asked questions
Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQs or simply get in touch with us directly. Whenever you are ready, we look forward to hearing from you – and we will get back to you within 24 hours! Because SERVICE is written in capitals here.
Let’s get goingWe would like aerials of the port. Is that realistic?
Only in part. Large areas of the port sit inside control zones, and operational sites have their own rules of access. Some of it can be approved, some cannot. We clear that before fixing dates and keep a solution without drones ready.
We are refurbishing a listed building. What does a film crew need to observe?
No interference with the fabric, no drilling, no adhesive marks, and lighting without heat load on sensitive surfaces. We work with tripods and available light. Any conditions from the heritage authority we take from you before the shoot.
Our city-centre site has no spare square metre. Where does your crew stand?
On the space you are using anyway. We come with a small crew and portable kit, no cable runs and no fixed setup. If we need pavement or roadway, we arrange the permit beforehand.
What does a film cost for a Hamburg practice?
The large majority of our projects sit in the mid four-figure to low five-figure range. What drives it is shooting days and the number of formats. Travel and accommodation stand beside that as separate items.

Maximilian Priess
Managing Director and Director
Cinema has fascinated us since childhood – not just as a medium, but as a total work of art. The interplay of every craft involved, the precision in the detail, the passion behind every frame: those are exactly the values we took as the foundation of Mastlicht Media, and we keep building on them every day. Seeing how this medium, combined with our craft, creates lasting value for our clients is what excites me anew every single day.
