The Film
The Story Behind an Idea
To portray a person without paying any attention to their outward appearance. This short documentary conveys authentic impressions of the performance art piece »Unverhüllt« by the artist Andrea Kraus. She sets out to perceive people through her own eyes and to translate them artistically. What she is after are real, unveiled moments, far removed from the distraction of outward appearances. The Challenge
The challenge in this project lay in the venue itself. With fairly weak light and a fairly high noise level, both sound and camera had to be handled with precision — and the same applied to every corresponding step in post-production. On top of that, there was to be one German and one English audio track.
Visual Approach
Working with the client, we opted for a documentary aesthetic in order to give the film authenticity. Her focus was (as is usual with a project like this) on conveying her art and its psychological effect as powerfully and as authentically as possible. To make the film usable internationally, a German and an English version were produced.
The Result
What emerged in the end is a ten-minute »branded documentary« that has been used internationally, in German and in English, at trade fairs and art exhibitions. In addition, a short audio book with musical accompaniment was produced, which is used during the live performance.
